The AHSN Network will again have a major presence at the annual Health and Care Innovation Expo, which takes place on 5 and 6 September in Manchester.
This is the key annual NHS event, with speeches by NHS Chief Executive Simon Stevens and new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock.
Our main exhibition area is the ‘AHSN Innovator Zone’ and will feature a series of displays, presentations and mini-theatres. Through the following elements, we will seek to build understanding of the breadth of our work, our cross sector collaborations and our future plans to spread innovation and support economic growth:
- Showcase of companies supported by AHSNs to spread their innovations
- AHSN national programmes and impacts – drop-in sessions and mini-theatres on the programmes, our support across the Innovation Pathway and the case studies showcased during the NHS70 celebrations
- Displays on SBRI Healthcare, the NHS Innovation Accelerator, patient safety and digital.
AHSN speakers will take part in sessions on the main Expo stage, and host ‘pop up university’ workshops. Highlights include:
From demonstrator to full scale adoption and spread: lessons from the Patient Safety Collaborative (PSC) programme
Day 1 – 14:00 – 15:00 – Theatre 4
The session will discuss how NHS Improvement’s Patient Safety Collaborative is contributing to the wider priorities of the NHS, with examples of how the 15 AHSN-led regional PSCs in England are supporting the large-scale spread of good practice and innovation to improve patient outcomes and impact across the system.
Learning from experience of innovating in the NHS
Day 1 – 17:15 – 18:15 – Innovate stage
This session will focus on how the system is working to evaluate, adopt and spread innovative technologies from both the NHS and industry. It will explore examples from those delivering innovation in the real world, and the key system enablers and accelerators including AHSNs and national innovation programmes. We will hear from NHS innovators and companies.
The Innovation Exchange: proven solutions to health challenges
Day 2 12:00–13:00 – Pop Up University 1
The NHS faces unprecedented challenges but often struggles to tap into the pool of innovative products, apps, devices and processes – already proven and tested – that can save lives and money. Innovation Exchanges are new processes being delivered across England that match these solutions to STP and Integrated Care system priorities.
