Each year, digital health innovators across the country can apply to join one of a family of regional digital health accelerators. These aim to speed up the adoption of technology in the NHS, relieve high pressure on services and empower patients to manage their health.
The accelerators serve as a network to streamline support along the Innovation Pathway as suggested in the Accelerated Access Review, and form a key aspect of delivering the AHSN Innovation Exchange locally.
Each accelerator supports high potential small and medium sized companies (SMEs) to develop and deploy solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing the NHS, and helps innovative digital health innovations to benefit patients faster.
They are run by South West AHSN, East Midlands AHSN, Health Innovation Manchester, Kent Surrey and Sussex AHSN, the three London AHSNs (Health Innovation Network, UCLPartners, and Imperial College Health Partners), MedCity and CW+. The DigitalHealth.London accelerator is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Through the AHSN Network, the accelerators draw upon key partners to bring a rich and diverse collateral of resources and expertise across healthcare, research, innovation, digital health, and technology.
