More than 286,000 people were supported at home through technology-enabled remote monitoring in 2021/22, with rapid enablement and scaling of this support spearheaded by the National Innovation Collaborative for digital health.
Led by Health Innovation Manchester (HInM) on behalf of the AHSN Network, the collaborative is a learning and support system for professionals involved in delivering technology-enabled health and care innovations, commissioned by NHS England and NHS Improvement (formerly NHS X).
Reflective of its name, the collaborative’s success depends on teamwork with national and local stakeholders, in identifying and creating valuable resources and opportunities for local teams and driving technology-enabled innovation in both health and social care.
HinM and National Innovation Collaborative Programme Director Oliver Barnes said: “Our shared vision is a system that helps digital, health, care, and project professionals from across the country rapidly connect, learn from, and be inspired by each other.
“We’ve built on a first phase, supporting work across 24 remote monitoring projects in England, to deliver a second phase involving 107 projects relating to care homes, virtual wards, long term conditions and people with severe mental illness.”
Rapid evaluations, workshops, communications tools and one-to-one benefits coaching have been central to phase two, helping teams demonstrate the socio-economic value of projects and communicate outcomes and learnings far and wide.
New national events, workshops, case studies, podcasts and videos will be delivered before a third phase begins in July 2022, building on multiple resources already accessible (free membership required) on the collaborative’s FutureNHS website: https://future.nhs.uk/InnovationCollaborative
